get in touch with your local day care center and take it from there (ask for training)
as a qualified carer its the most rewarding job
not only do you get to meet so many interesting people
you learn what the most important things in life really are
you will come into contact with death and help to care for the dead
but this is not as bad as it sounds remember it comes to us all (you will have someone to talk to and help you through this )
and you will learn how treat everyone the way you would wish your family to be treated
either in old age or in death
go for it its so rewarding
and good luck for the future in such a hard and sometimes heartbreaking job
remember one thing i found as i trained for 3 years older people don’t lose their sense of humor so keep them laughing

There are some Non-Medical Senior Homecare agencies that will hire people to be companions. Just search your phone book under nursing and look for non-medical.

Most will require you to be a very caring person and have a good work background and references. Of course clear background checks, etc. You wont be providing hands on care so wont need the training that goes with being a Home Health Aide. Some agencies will provide their own training programs for this.

That might at least help you get into the field if you really love working with the elderly.
